Franky Rizardo Austin Concert reviews
Hot venue
Hot sweat box, that is. I made it in time for Franky Rizardo's set. They put on a pretty wild show including a hidden favorite of mine (Hidden Fist, Hidden Hand) that got the crowd going crazy jumping on stage and dancing on speakers relatively early, but it was awful hot. I was horridly glad that I missed Lotus' act but disappointed to not have to put myself through two major sets in what was more like a sauna than a concert gathering. The acoustics were pretty good all around and the lights were terrific. The heat and the faraway concession stands will keep me from going to this venue again. The artists and their after party crew were totally worth seeing though. In fact, the after party with Big Gigantic made up for the main show debacle as Irving Plaza was much cooler yet still very personal and closed and had easy access to water and drinks. Plus music til twenty of four a.m. is always a plus.
